Children of Light
The Children Of Light E.P. features six original compositions produced by Dj Teo Skylark. The E.P. contains the Children Of Light song in four different languages, English, French, Japanese and Spanish. Over two decades in the making, The Children Of Light poem has been read aloud at numerous gatherings and raves dating back to the early 1990’s. Teo Skylark had the poem translated into the three languages beyond English also featured on the E.P.

Recording began for this project in 2002 with Vanessa Marie’s English version of the song that was accompanied by a different musical composition. That version of the song was released on a limited edition vinyl record titled “Elevation” in 2005, which also included Vanessa Marie’s hit song “Last Goodbye”. In 2006 Teo Recorded the Japanese version while working with Ayumi Endo on the “House Of Skylark” project. That same year the composition was translated to Spanish and recorded by Maritza Franco while working with Teo Skylark on a multitude of projects and live performances in Miami Florida and vocals on “The Love Movement” a free song available from Skylark Recordings on Soundcloud.com. Marie Parie translated and recorded the French version in 2007 while in artist development with Skylark Recordings.
Teo Skylark produced a new composition for the project in 2009 – 2010, completing the project in 2011. The E.P. Includes a bonus mix titled “Allow Your Light” which contains exerts from each language arranged to present an entirely different message promoting inner awakening. There is also an instrumental version of the song included on the E.P.
The cover art features model and Playboy Centerfold Jenny “Cash” Quinn photographed by Grant Buckerfield. The graphic manipulation was developed by Teo Skylark and produced in Photoshop exclusively for Skylark Recordings.
This is the third record release for Skylark Recordings in 2012 and is a follow up release to Teo Skylarks “Juke Joint”. The message “Children Of Light” conveys is universal, considering the changes throughout the world recently and the changes that 2012 will bring this is the relevant time for the records release. Teo Skylark expressed that he would like to have translated the message into every language possible, clearly a project that could take a lifetime.

This compilation features two original compositions produced by Dj Teo Skylark and is a tribute to the classic juke joints of the late 19th century in the Southern United States. Set up on the outskirts of town, often in ramshackle buildings or private houses, juke joints offered food, drink, dancing and gambling for weary workers that needed a place to relax and socialize following a hard week.
Dancing was done to so-called jigs and reels, music we now think of as “old-timey” or “hillbilly”. Juke joint music began with ragtime and folk rags and then the boogie woogie dance music of the late 1880s or 1890s that became the blues, barrel house, and the slow drag dance music of the rural south. Dance forms evolved from ring dances to solo and couples dancing. The music moved north and is partially responsible for the start of House Music and all night clandestine dance parties “raves” usually held in warehouses that are primitive rural counterparts of nightclubs.
The Juke Joints were the first American Underground Dance Music events, the grandfather of modern day raves. This compilation pays homage to the spirit of the underground dance music movement and Juke Joints; if it weren’t for them the world wouldn’t have House Music today.
The release is the eleventh record produced by DJ Teo Skylark under the independent label Skylark Recordings. Dj Teo Skylarks fourth release as an independent producer, “Juke Joint” is arguably the best composition to date produced by the artist. It’s a solid blend of live instruments combined with House Music rhythms that have a big band feel. Sure to set dance floors a blaze with ecstatic energy and roof lifting beats.

The “Guide of Souls” single is Aimee Jacobs first release under the independent record label Skylark Recordings. Aimee Jacobs began working with Skylark Recordings in June of 2009 on the “Guide Of Souls” project with Jason Serrano, Kenneth Kaufmann and the labels executive producer Theo Skudlark. An established musician, Aimee adds the lead keyboards and vocals to the composition, which is only a glimpse at this composures unique style and refined musical talent. Aimee brings a lifetime of musical knowledge to the table through years of musical training in composition, song writing and vocal performance.
When not working with Skylark’s team of producers, Aimee can be found in the studio or on the road with her band “The Burning Of Rome” from Carlsbad, California where Aimee is the keyboardist and back-up vocalist. Aimee’s band has seen a tremendous amount of success on the west coast and has packed venues from Seattle to San Diego. Aimee was also recently featured on KCET, PBS and in San Diego’s City Beat Magazine for her work with the band.
Jason Serrano adds the “Guide Of Souls” to his arsenal of compositions published under Skylark Recordings. This is Jason’s fourth release under the Skylark Banner and is working on many projects slated for release in the future.
Jason also known as “Jase” composed and produced a portion of the Guide Of Souls composition in San Francisco, California where he currently resides. Jason also worked on portions of the track while in the back seat of an automobile on the road back and fourth between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
A Producer and Disc Jokey, Jason holds a weekly residency at Anu nightclub in San Francisco. Additionally Jason has billed with some legendary acts and performers at one off events in the Bay Area and other parts of the United States. Jason has also performed at some of the nations and worlds leading nightclubs and venues. His background in music spans more than a decade and crosses over multiple genres. The “Guide Of Souls” release is Jason’s first independent project under the label and is a portion of a larger compilation Jason is working on that showcases his musical diversity and independent style.
Kenneth Kaufmann, also known as Clutch Thompson from his independent hip hop releases under Cloth Recordings recorded and engineered Aimee Jacobs portion of the composition at Cloth Studios in San Clemente, California. Where they have also put together other projects that are slated for release under Skylark in the up coming months. Stay tuned; we will be hearing more from these new additions to the Skylark team in the days ahead.
Carrie James, a former concert producer and program director for Australian radio adds the visual elements to the releases creative assets & packaging graphics. A resident of Australia, Carrie is a long time friend and supporter of Skylark Recordings. She found inspiration after hearing Aimee’s demo and created the work while listening to her songs. It was only natural that the packaging graphic be none other than something inspired by the artist, Aimee Jacobs. Skylark is honored to have such a large contribution that came from half way around the planet be included in this project.
“Guide Of Souls” marks the dawn of a new era for the publishing company. This is the first release published under the record label that was composed by a female producer. Theo Skudlark, Skylark Recordings founder and C.E.O. states, “I wish I had met Aimee a decade ago, it would have changed the course of the label. However all things for a reason and I am excited to see where this venture takes us and anxious to share Aimee’s other works with the world. After eight years running the label and several international releases I finally feel as if we have arrived.”

“Make Me Feel” Released in August 2009 is the second release featuring singer, songwriter and recording artist Vanessa Athens since joining Skylark in 2004. This record follows up “Gracia” , released in December of 2008 which has seen tremendous success in Europe, Asia and the United States.
This marks Dj Teo Skylarks seventh record produced and published under the independent record label since 2003. There are many releases being planned by this Producer / DJ with a complete Album including remixes of some current catalog titles and original compositions, a date has not been set.

“Gracia” was inspired from the timeless classic New Britain, Faiths Review And Expectation or more commonly known as Amazing Grace. Written by John Newton and adapted to Spanish by Vanessa Athens. The E.P. contains five original versions of the composition and is the collective effort of Jason “Jase” Serrano, Theo “Dj Teo Skylark” Skudlark and the labels latest additions writer / producer Joel Vanni and singer/songwriter Vanessa Athens.
Joel Vanni has worked with Skylark Recordings for many years composing tracks with Jase and Dj Teo. A published artist and writer, Gracia celebrates Joel’s first release under the label, which has been years in the making. Joel has many projects in the works both solo and collaborative productions that you may find published under Skylark in the future.
Vanessa Athens, A veteran performer who has worked both on and off the stage for over two thirds of her life is Skylark Recordings featured vocalist and songwriter providing vocals for Gracia. Vanessa translated the composition into Spanish and performs both English and Spanish versions of the composition in addition to a Spanglish version that compliments both languages combined on the E.P. Gracia is Vanessa Athens first release under the label as a recording artist. You will find other titles that Vanessa Athens has provided vocals for as a studio musician under the labels catalog.
The original English composition first appeared as a promotional piece in September 2007 and was featured in a runway fashion show produced by Poised Marketing Group for OOMM Clothing at the Mansion Restaurant and Nightclub in Hollywood, Ca. The composition was additionally licensed to the organizations for inclusion onto the score of the video for the fashion show. Which can be viewed online by clicking here.
Gracia, when translated into English means grace. Ironically the first versions of Gracia where recorded during a studio session for another Artist working with Skylark as a vocal exercise by Vanessa Athens while practicing to perform back up vocals as a studio musician. Somewhat of an accident and playful recording became the basis and corner stone for the Gracia compositions, indicating that the playful accidental recordings where no mistake.

Skylark Recordings first published music video “House Of The Sky” was produced for this project. The music video features five years worth of footage from Teo’s live performances with Skylark Recordings. Club Space Miami, Urb Magazine, Club Lingerie, the Mansion Hollywood and several other stellar venues are featured as the back drop. We also catch glimpses of Playmates Jenny Quinn (featured model on CD Cover) and DJ Crystal Ellis who performed with Dj Teo. Both models went on to become playboy bunnies. House Of The Sky – A Music Video featuring House Of Skylark
House Of The Sky – Skylark Recordings first music video release featuring the “House Of Skylark” single. The record hit stores in November 2008 and has accumulated sales internationally, the successful release allowed the record label to push forward with production on the music video.
Containing studio footage filmed during the musical production and photo shoot, this is a behind the scenes glance at how the music and art came together. The video also contains footage from shows and concerts covering 5 years worth of performances. Miami’s legendary Club Space, San Franciscos Club 510, The Highlands and Mansion nightclubs in Los Angeles are all seen in the video from shows Teo Skylark’s music has been featured in.
The music video is a mash up of footage collected over the years. To achieve the videos primary effect a camera was attached to the top of an automobile and recorded the journey along Angeles Crest Highway from a ski resort to downtown Los Angeles. The drives footage is used as the backdrop for the videos over lay and effect driven imagery.
OOMM Clothing and Pastease Swimwear can be seen on the models and dancers featured in the collage. Each of the brands has sponsored Skylarks artists and or shows.
Glimpses of many talented individuals who have contributed to the record label can be found throughout the video, BBC’s Grant Buckerfield, Jason Serrano, Marisa Durboraw, Emcee Sweet, Super Model & Playboy centerfold Jenny Quinn, Model and DJ Crystal Ellis, Dj Syrena, Producer Dj Lady House, Cupids Miss Meeshy, Erica Frey and Autum Philips among others are in the music video.

Below is a behind the scenes look at the production and some of the artists involved.
“House of Skylark” marks Dj Teo’s fifth release under Skylark Recordings. The composition was inspired by the rich Japanese culture thriving in Little Tokyo and the Artist District of downtown Los Angeles. Sounds of Taiko Drums, a Bamboo Flute, and a traditional Japanese Koto combined with a Spanish Guitar, driving rhythms and thundering baselines give this composition its unique east meets west flavor.
Teo produced the composition while Skylark Studios was located in the Artist District of downtown Los Angeles, adjacent to Little Tokyo. A project that took several years to produce, Teo took to the streets of Little Tokyo and found inspiration from the sounds of the surrounding communities. This is where Teo met the vocalist Ayumi Endo whose vocals are featured upon the composition.
Ayumi Endo also known as Ry from Yokohama, Japan is the artist and vocalist featured upon the composition and a member of the Japanese reggae tone group RA RA. Ayumi Endo was visiting the Untied States when she met Dj Teo and recorded the “House of Skylark” composition in 2006 among others Skylark Recordings plans to release in the future.
The voice of Skylark Recordings is Ayumi Endo, found on most audio and all video titles the label has produced since 2006. The intro is spoken in Japanese and translates to “Music from the house of the sky”. This quote was exerted from the House Of Skylark composition and has become the signature of Skylark’s media.
The Artistic vision behind the audio and visual presentation for House of Skylark was a collaborative effort of many talented individuals. Skylark Recordings assembled its cast of usual suspects and welcomed new additions to the arsenal to produce the production.
Jason “Jase” Serrano – Audio Engineer, Mastering
Many hours clocked in the studio by Skylarks veteran producer, dj and artist mastering the final arrangement along with Dj Teo. What you hear on the “House Of Skylark” release is Dj Teo’s composition and a collaborative fine-tuning production project of the audio master between Dj Teo and Jason “Jase” Serrano.
Terence Morgan – Japanese Liaison
Working directly with Dj Teo and Ayumi Endo in the studio, Terence helped communicate and translate the artistic vision between Ayumi Endo and Dj Teo into the vocal arrangement heard on the composition.
Jay Grant – Photographer, Artist, Visionary
Originally from Australia and then the United Kingdom worked with Skylark and Theo “Dj Teo” Skudlark on the OOMM Fashion Show production prior to the House Of Skylark shoot. An established photographer and designer Jay continues to freelance, occasionally working on projects for Skylark Recordings and various companies around Los Angeles.
Jenny Quinn – Model, Actress
A long time print model for Skylark Recordings, This New York born Cuban Italian vixen has also been found working as a spokes model at Skylark Recordings events in South Florida, where she currently resides. An established fitness and swimwear model Jenny has graced the pages of Maxim, FHM, Playboy and a host of other well-known international publications. Jenny has also appeared on various television and cable programs indicating that South Florida’s most beautiful attraction is not the coastline or gulf sunsets.
Marisa Durboraw – Hairdresser, Artist, Pioneer
An established hairdresser and asset of Thomas Chase Salon in Santa Monica, Ca. ads the artistic vision behind the hair design for the House of Skylark production. Her experience with hair dates over eight years, vastly becoming the salons and probably the west coast’s most sought after hairdresser. Clients traveling from as far away as Chicago and New York, scheduling up to three weeks in advance just to have their hair done by this self taught natural.
Takako Kudo – Japanese Copy Translation
Long time friend of DJ Teo originally from Morioka Japan, Takako came to the United States to seek better opportunity for her and her family. Obtaining a Bachelors of Arts Degree in International Business from California State University Long Beach, Takako frequently offers translation services to various international organizations.
House of Skylark marks the labels first release since 2005 and is the fifth addition under the labels catalog. The domestic street date is set for November 19th 2008 in the United States. The international release will follow.

EMCEE SWEET Straight out of LA’s urban underground, MC Sweet proves that ladies can get busy on the mic too. Born Christeana Brass Nahas, Sweet was raised by a successful family of artists. Exposed to the entertainment industry at an early age, Sweet established an interest and a talent in music. She was playing Mozart on the keys at eight and by fifteen she found her voice, sweet (hence the name) and raw. A natural emcee and personality, Sweets quickly began booking sets with local and international DJ’s from coast to coast. By twenty, she was composing hooks, guest appearing on albums and clocking in long hours at the studio.
Armed with DJ/producer Teo, a veteran vocal coach, and a super smart street flow, Sweet dropped her debut single “Dun let em fool ya” in the summer of 2003. The single is a house track that shows off her tremendous tone and radio ready hooks. Sweet’s musical inspirations are as diverse as she is. Her ability to swing from Jungle and dub to trip hop and house is remarkable. Known best for her electronica tinged hip hop, the young emcee embodies an entire generation of Los Angeles. Sexy, street and influential, her album will definitely be sweet on the charts.
