Skylark Recordings first published music video “House Of The Sky” was produced for this project. The music video features five years worth of footage from Teo’s live performances with Skylark Recordings. Club Space Miami, Urb Magazine, Club Lingerie, the Mansion Hollywood and several other stellar venues are featured as the back drop. We also catch glimpses of Playmates Jenny Quinn (featured model on CD Cover) and DJ Crystal Ellis who performed with Dj Teo. Both models went on to become playboy bunnies. The music video is available on iTunes as a video download and watchable on Youtube or below.
House Of The Sky – A Music Video featuring House Of Skylark
House Of The Sky – Skylark Recordings first music video release featuring the “House Of Skylark” single. The record hit stores in November 2008 and has accumulated sales internationally, the successful release allowed the record label to push forward with production on the music video.
Containing studio footage filmed during the musical production and photo shoot, this is a behind the scenes glance at how the music and art came together. The video also contains footage from shows and concerts covering 5 years worth of performances. Miami’s legendary Club Space, San Franciscos Club 510, The Highlands and Mansion nightclubs in Los Angeles are all seen in the video from shows Teo Skylark’s music has been featured in.
The music video is a mash up of footage collected over the years. To achieve the videos primary effect a camera was attached to the top of an automobile and recorded the journey along Angeles Crest Highway from a ski resort to downtown Los Angeles. The drives footage is used as the backdrop for the videos over lay and effect driven imagery.
OOMM Clothing and Pastease Swimwear can be seen on the models and dancers featured in the collage. Each of the brands has sponsored Skylarks artists and or shows.
Glimpses of many talented individuals who have contributed to the record label can be found throughout the video, BBC’s Grant Buckerfield, Jason Serrano, Marisa Durboraw, Emcee Sweet, Super Model & Playboy centerfold Jenny Quinn, Model and DJ Crystal Ellis, Dj Syrena, Producer Dj Lady House, Cupids Miss Meeshy, Erica Frey and Autum Philips among others are in the music video.
The music video went to distribution In April 2009 and was released on July 1st 2009.
Below is a behind the scenes look at the production and some of the artists involved.
“House of Skylark” marks Dj Teo’s fifth release under Skylark Recordings. The composition was inspired by the rich Japanese culture thriving in Little Tokyo and the Artist District of downtown Los Angeles. Sounds of Taiko Drums, a Bamboo Flute, and a traditional Japanese Koto combined with a Spanish Guitar, driving rhythms and thundering baselines give this composition its unique east meets west flavor.
Teo produced the composition while Skylark Studios was located in the Artist District of downtown Los Angeles, adjacent to Little Tokyo. A project that took several years to produce, Teo took to the streets of Little Tokyo and found inspiration from the sounds of the surrounding communities. This is where Teo met the vocalist Ayumi Endo whose vocals are featured upon the composition.
Ayumi Endo also known as Ry from Yokohama, Japan is the artist and vocalist featured upon the composition and a member of the Japanese reggae tone group RA RA. Ayumi Endo was visiting the Untied States when she met Dj Teo and recorded the “House of Skylark” composition in 2006 among others Skylark Recordings plans to release in the future.
The voice of Skylark Recordings is Ayumi Endo, found on most audio and all video titles the label has produced since 2006. The intro is spoken in Japanese and translates to “Music from the house of the sky”. This quote was exerted from the House Of Skylark composition and has become the signature of Skylark’s media.
The Artistic vision behind the audio and visual presentation for House of Skylark was a collaborative effort of many talented individuals. Skylark Recordings assembled its cast of usual suspects and welcomed new additions to the arsenal to produce the production.
Jason “Jase” Serrano – Audio Engineer, Mastering
Many hours clocked in the studio by Skylarks veteran producer, dj and artist mastering the final arrangement along with Dj Teo. What you hear on the “House Of Skylark” release is Dj Teo’s composition and a collaborative fine-tuning production project of the audio master between Dj Teo and Jason “Jase” Serrano.
Terence Morgan – Japanese Liaison
Working directly with Dj Teo and Ayumi Endo in the studio, Terence helped communicate and translate the artistic vision between Ayumi Endo and Dj Teo into the vocal arrangement heard on the composition.
Jay Grant – Photographer, Artist, Visionary
Originally from Australia and then the United Kingdom worked with Skylark and Theo “Dj Teo” Skudlark on the OOMM Fashion Show production prior to the House Of Skylark shoot. An established photographer and designer Jay continues to freelance, occasionally working on projects for Skylark Recordings and various companies around Los Angeles.
Jenny Quinn – Model, Actress
A long time print model for Skylark Recordings, This New York born Cuban Italian vixen has also been found working as a spokes model at Skylark Recordings events in South Florida, where she currently resides. An established fitness and swimwear model Jenny has graced the pages of Maxim, FHM, Playboy and a host of other well-known international publications. Jenny has also appeared on various television and cable programs indicating that South Florida’s most beautiful attraction is not the coastline or gulf sunsets.
Marisa Durboraw – Hairdresser, Artist, Pioneer
An established hairdresser and asset of Thomas Chase Salon in Santa Monica, Ca. ads the artistic vision behind the hair design for the House of Skylark production. Her experience with hair dates over eight years, vastly becoming the salons and probably the west coast’s most sought after hairdresser. Clients traveling from as far away as Chicago and New York, scheduling up to three weeks in advance just to have their hair done by this self taught natural.
Takako Kudo – Japanese Copy Translation
Long time friend of DJ Teo originally from Morioka Japan, Takako came to the United States to seek better opportunity for her and her family. Obtaining a Bachelors of Arts Degree in International Business from California State University Long Beach, Takako frequently offers translation services to various international organizations.
House of Skylark marks the labels first release since 2005 and is the fifth addition under the labels catalog. The domestic street date is set for November 19th 2008 in the United States. The international release will follow.
